June 2010

Hey everyone!

First off, thanks to everyone who came down to say hi and enjoy the Get Vocal festival with us! Mealz and the Colonel did an amazing job setting up a brilliantly well-rounded festival that proved to everyone in attendance just how far vocal music has come in this town. It was a riot, we'll probably be recovered from it just in time for next year's festival!

Now, a couple of things to tell you about this month!

Melbourne Cabaret Festival

What is Cabaret? Well, to be honest we're not completely sure either. So for the 2010 Melbourne Cabaret Festival we've more or less strung a show together called "Blokes Don't Sing" that focuses squarely on the comedy element of what we do.

The initial preview show was very well received, apparently what we do is very cabaret and the festival directors reckon we'll have a smash hit on our hands. There's a few fairly ambitious new ideas in the show, including 'reverse karaoke' and Loz singing a song from the perspective of his missing testicle, that'll be a surprise even if you've seen us a few times before.

Shows are Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th July, both at 9.30pm, at the Ballantyne room in the South Melbourne town hall. Bookings have just opened up, so jump in early!

Video: sneak peek of what we're doing in the studio

By the time the next newsletter goes out, we're aiming to have released a new single for digital download... And it's going to be a cracker, you won't believe the new sounds we're getting.

We put a little sneak peek on our YouTube channel... Have a look!

A Cappella Community Awards

We were lucky enough to be nominated this year for 'Favourite Oceanic Group' at the 2010 ACA awards... And we're rapt to say we came in at #2, right behind our buddies in The Idea Of North. Congrats to the TION guys and thanks to all the CASA members that threw us a vote!

That's about it for June, if you're in Melbourne where we are, make sure you keep yourself rugged up so you don't cough up a lung like I am...

Have a good one!
Cheers
Loz

...and the Suade lads.

Suade's Music:

Suade is a five-part male a cappella vocal group based in Melbourne, Australia. That's five guys singing, each with a microphone and nothing else. No band, no backing tracks. Vocal bands like this are big internationally but pretty uncommon in Australia. Read more.
