Suade have been recognised as Melbourne’s finest a cappella group for some time now, having spent the last ten years dazzling audiences all over the country. Smooth harmonies and soulful voices meet raucous entertainment and terrible comedy when the lads hit the stage. They’re the Melbourne boys with a sparkle in their voices and a twinkle in their eyes!
Suade LiveThe lads' famous live show brings together a range of cover tunes from barbershop, doo-wop and swing, to jazz, soul, gospel and classical, right through to rock, pop, R&B, party tunes and comedy numbers. In more recent times, the lads have turned their hand to songwriting with a full set of original tunes that span just as wide a range of genres - and experimenting with live looping. Suade has rocked a number of iconic Melbourne venues: BMW Edge Theatre (Federation Square), Hamer Hall (Melbourne Concert Hall), Melbourne Park, The Northcote Social Club, Vodafone Arena, Manchester Lane, The Palladium, The Forum, The Palms at Crown, Chapel Off Chapel and many more – as well as touring around Australia, Taiwan and Korea. The lads have appeared in front of audiences up to a quarter of a million on national live TV, and 40,000 or more at big events. They love the big stages but also appreciate the informality and intimacy of smaller rooms. Suade On RecordThe group currently has three recordings - debut album "All singing, no dancing" (2006), the fun "Cuddles for Christmas" EP (2007) and most recently "Home Brew," a collection of original tunes (2009). Home Brew was produced by the Blain brothers and engineered by the Colonel on the group's own equipment - making it a truly independent recording process. The lads are constantly working on new recordings. Suade's music has been featured on radio and television in several countries. Corporate ShowsCorporate work has also been a specialty in recent years, for clients including Telstra, Sun Microsystems, Snooze, The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, Starry Starry Night, Oxfam, and countless others. The lads work hard for the huge reception they get from audiences. Workshops and MasterclassesSuade regularly runs interactive workshops and masterclasses with community groups, choirs and other singing groups. Sessions can be arranged privately or as part of a festival or major event. The keen ears, passion and attention to detail that give Suade its distinctive sound can help any singing group elevate their performance and go for the next level. It's also an absolute bucketload of fun. Schools ProgramThe Suade schools program has been very successful in Victoria, and is expanding in 2009 to be available interstate. The lads generally turn up early to perform for the school, then get together with the choir and smaller music groups to work on specific pieces, general singing techniques, and sometimes group performances for the parents after hours. The kids love it, the lads have a great time, and teachers tell us they get a sudden influx of boys into the music programme once they realise singing is a fun, rewarding and exciting pastime even for the footy playing types. |
