Home Brew CD review by Airlie Bee

The first review we're aware of for the Home Brew CD has rolled in. Our favourite choice passage: "Home Brew is like relaxing on the veranda on a Sunday afternoon with a bunch of mates, a bottle in hand, spinning yarns about life, love, sex, footy and kids. Of course, like all good brew-infused gatherings, it ends up half-naked with its tongue firmly in its cheek."

If you're in Tassie or you know somebody in the Apple Isle, we've just posted up a bunch of July dates for Deloraine, Swansea, Nubeena and Hobart in the Events Calendar. We'll be doing a bunch of fun stuff with the 2009 Festival of Voices.

In particular we want to let you guys know about the final show on our Tassie tour, a 2-hour beauty we're putting on at the Hobart Town Hall at 5pm, Sunday July 12.

We'll be ending our tour with a bang, so grab your tickets at Centertainment.

Suade wins 1st place in the 2009 Eisteddfod by the Bay

As part of gearing up for international competitions in Taiwan and Korea this October, we've been getting back on the competition and eisteddfod circuit in Melbourne. And in the few years since we last competed, the standard of competition has gone through the roof!

So we really felt we earned our first place at the 2009 Eisteddfod by the Bay when we edged out the fantastic young group Suara and a stunning performance by the Bathtets. With young singers like these groups and the many other strong contenders at the contest, we're going to have to work our butts off if we want to keep ourselves at the pointy end.

And you know what? That's fantastic. The singing scene in Melbourne is really coming alive, and we're proud to be a part of it. Congratulations to all who competed, and to our buddy Robert Dryden for putting together a great contest.

You'll be hearing more about the Bathtets soon, we're looking at getting these amazing singers in as a support act for our upcoming Chapel Off Chapel show in Melbourne this  August.

Suade's Music:

Suade is a five-part male a cappella vocal group based in Melbourne, Australia. That's five guys singing, each with a microphone and nothing else. No band, no backing tracks. Vocal bands like this are big internationally but pretty uncommon in Australia. Read more.
