If you dig singing, sing in a group of your own, or would like to get involved with a cappella, you need to know about this: as part of our commitment to growing the vocal music scene in Australia, the Colonel has teamed up with Mealz from Vocal Folds 4 to start a new a cappella association - Vocal Australia.
The main aims of the association are to:
- Develop and promote contemporary a cappella music in Australia
- Build a solid reputation for Australian groups internationally
- Get people in the Aussie vocal music scene working together
In this spirit, they're in the process of organising the Get Vocal festival - a contemporary vocal music festival in Melbourne. Get Vocal is a series of workshops, concerts, masterclasses and social events from May 5th-9th 2010 at Chapel Off Chapel, Prahran. Suade and VF4 will be there, as well as a number of other great Melbourne groups - and the guys are set to announce some very special guests.
It's gonna be a great event for all sorts of singers - people in contemporary groups who wanna meet others in the scene, strut their stuff, swap ideas and learn from some of the best in the business - and even solo singers who want to experience a cappella singing, make some connections and maybe join or start a group.
Interested? Get into the Vocal Australia website and sign up on the mailing list. This is gonna be big, folks, and the festival's gonna be a pretty special event with loads of amazing performers and mucho party time.
